picture The interior again, this is a close-up of the tunnelconsole, where it is going to meet the dashboard. The plastic thingy you see on top is going to be a nice panel, which will house a switch and the dashboard light fader, and it will have a proper volvo badge, so it is clear for everybody what kind of car this is :-) Maybe I'll be adding some lights behind the volvo logo, for show purposes.

picture Christmas holidays, a good time to spend some time on the car. Here you can see the cover plate (waaay to big still) which will eventually be the front end of the right side of the dashboard. The holes for the vents are already in place.

picture Panel removed... you can see clearly now how the dashboard is cut, and how it is going to be built. The wooden panels in the center part are temporarily, just to keep things together.

picture First start on the laptop drawer. In the back you can see just how little space there is left for the heater shafts *oops...

picture Overview of the dashboard again... check the differences with the overview two pics back... yup, the front panel has moved 7cm. forward, there was no room for the vent exhausts and the laptop drawer.

picture The panel in which the clocks and meters eventually fit. Originally this panel housed switches for the rear window heating, fog lights, and the main light switch. The holes for the switches are made fit for a vent exhaust, the hole for the main light switch is filled. There will be a much nicer solution for those bulky switches. Of course, in the end, you'll see nothing at all of the ugly filler.

picture Here is the panel again, as you can see it now is nicely covered with a tech-look fabric. Looks a lot neater than the filler, eh?

picture The dashboard is beginning to take shape again. As you can see, the right hand side panel is trimmed to fit, and the hole for the glovebox is cut out. Also, I've started on the center console, which will house some extra meters, some switches, the heater controls, and a nice funky showy panel on which I can see which door is open, which light burns, and some more...

picture The dashboard again, I placed the door for the glovebox in temporarily, just to look how it would look. The blue stuff in the center is the same sort of fabric I used on the panel two pictures up. This is to fit the car stereo's headunit.

picture I bought some new gas springs to keep my tailgate open, these are a fair bit stronger than the springs that were originally mounted (worn out over the years...)
