While studying, I came up with a new plan, and started working on it right away. This is the first start...
What you see is two strips of aluminum, with attached to it two very strong LED's, called Luxeon Stars.

Here a view of the backside of the panel that will come on the left of the steering wheel, against the A-style. It houses three switches, with which I
can control the lights. Besides that, the lights will go on automatically when I start the engine, and go off when I stop the engine. Clever little (?) thingy.

...And this is then the panel that will come to "live" in the extra space that I prepared above the speedometer. In the center the Character LCD for Winamp- and other statistics,
the knobs on both sides are for contrast- and backlight settings.

The right hand door panel. I decided to completely rebuild the left hand side as well, but first I want to show you this picture, so you can have a bit of
an idea how it is going to look like.

|
Once again, the door panel. You can see clearly how thick the panels are on some places, this of course to make enough space for the speakers, and to
make the map storage space big enough to actually store a map there ;-)

The hinge struts for the bonnet. I had to replace the entire front bar, and that was a good opportunity to take those struts, the bumper struts and the
front wings/mud guards, off to remove all rust and repaint them with rust stopping stuff. The yellow color is a primer/filler that was applied after the ruststopper.

  |
  |
|
this is then the new front part, already nicely welded to the car, all irregularities removed, rust preventer applied, and painted... black!
In the lower left corner you can see I also painted the bonnet struts black, to give it all the same look.

  |
|
And again the front bar part, from a slightly different angle, so you can see I didn't do a rush job: the silverish color is rust-preventing spray, the yellow stuff is primer, the black color is paint.
After that a nice thick layer of Tectyl will be applied, so that the rust can't come back for another twenty years! (or so I hope...)

|
As I said before, I have decided to rebuild both door panels instead of only the right one, as I couldn't get things exactly the same. This way, things work out much, much better.
you can see both panels, partially worked over with Polyesther and a first layer of poly-plaster.

Because I already started trying to ban all rust from my car, I did the engine room also. Don't worry, it won't stay like this.
