The spot tube

Next step is the spot himself. It really isn't much more than a 40mm piece of tube, but it deserves some attention.
First, mark 40mm on the aluminium tube. Then cut it. If you have a mitre box, USE IT! It will definately improve the overall appearance of your work, and it reduces the finishing work time by ages.

Then, mark 15mm from one side, or if you want to have the spot more symmetrical, mark 20mm (that's the center of the spot tube, duh...). Drill through the tube, first with your 1.5mm drill and then with the 3.2 or 3.5mm drill. Again in two steps, as
drills have a very annoying habit of walking off curved surfaces. Bigger drills do that easier, so we drill a small hole first. As you have to drill right through the center of the tube, a column drill is really, really handy. See if you can use one. If not, then at
least use a workbench.
Again remove the sharp remains of all the cuts and holes. See if you can also clean up the interior of the tube, as the wiring will run right next to it. And believe me, although the voltage is quite low, the currents can be enormous when you short-circuit.
While you're at it, also round off the outer edges, this will look a lot nicer.
